Gold Rush Weekend to celebrate start of 2010-11 season; students have chance to win new iPad

SALISBURY, Md. – The 2010-11 season is upon us and it’s time to show your Sea Gull pride! As the Salisbury University athletic teams get into gear with a weekend full of action on Sept.  3 and 4, we want you to show off your gold for Gold Rush Weekend 2010, and students will be rewarded with a chance to win a free iPad.

Students at the weekend’s events who arrive with their student I.D. and are wearing gold Salisbury University apparel will be entered into the drawing for the iPad which will be given away at the culmination of Gold Rush Weekend during halftime of the football game on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m., against North Carolina Wesleyan College.

Throughout the week, Student Activities will be running events where students will be able to win entries into the drawing. Additional entries will be reserved for students who attend the athletic events of the weekend.

Women’s soccer will open the action on Friday, Sept. 3 when it takes on Fredonia State University at 3 p.m., at the SU Soccer Complex. Saturday is an action-packed day of Sea Gull athletics, beginning at Winterplace Park where the men’s and women’s cross country teams will host the Sea Gull Opener at 9:45 a.m. Field hockey will open up its season at 1 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium against University of Mary Washington and men’s soccer will take on Geneseo State University as part of the Elmer Lord Classic at 2 p.m. The first 20 students to arrive at each of these events with their student I.D. and wearing gold Salisbury University apparel will receive a T-shirt commemorating Gold Rush Weekend along with their entry into the drawing for the iPad.

The first 100 students to arrive for the football game will also receive the T-shirt along with the entry into the iPad drawing.

Come fill the stands at Sea Gull Stadium, the SU Soccer Complex and Winterplace Park and show your support for the Sea Gulls. Let’s start the 2010-11 season on a high note.
