Tollett appointed to NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
INDIANAPOLIS – The Salisbury University athletics program can add another accolade to its ever-growing list. Junior Liz Tollett (Severna Park, Md.), a two-sport athlete (field hockey, track & field), has been appointed as a member of the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Tollett will be representing both the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) as well as the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC).
Being a two-sport athlete isn’t easy to begin with, but being an excellent two-sport athlete is even more elusive. Tollett, a member of the Salisbury University field hockey team, was part of the 2009 squad which captured the program’s fifth national championship back on Nov. 22. Just three days ago, Tollett and her fellow women’s track & field members earned the program’s first-ever CAC championship title.
Each representative is responsible for gathering feedback and reporting on behalf of their conference and partner conference, as well as relaying important events, hot topics and educational information to both the campus and conference levels. In addition to relaying information across campuses and conferences, Division III SAAC speaks on the behalf of the entire Division III student-athlete body throughout the NCAA governance structure. Tollett will serve a two-year term in the position.
"Liz is an excellent selection for this important and prestigious committee. She has been a model student-athlete and a great representative of Salisbury University and will undoubtedly be an equally impressive representative for all Division III student-athletes and the NCAA," said Dr. Michael Vienna, Salisbury University's Director of Athletics. "I look forward to working with Liz in this new leadership capacity."
