21 student-athletes inducted into prestigious Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University is proud to announce that 21 student-athletes have been inducted into the prestigious Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athletic Honor Society-Zeta Chapter. In order to qualify, the student-athlete must earn a varsity letter in at least one sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average throughout their junior and senior years. Salisbury University’s Zeta Chapter was established in 2009, with 45 student-athletes comprising the first-ever cohort of inductees.

In addition to the new members of Chi Alpha Sigma, 18 of the 25 inductees from 2009 (who were classified as juniors) have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or higher.

Chi Alpha Sigma's purpose is to encourage and reward high academic scholarship of college athletes at four-year accredited colleges and universities. It recognizes outstanding academic achievement by intercollegiate varsity letter winners. Chi Alpha Sigma encourages good citizenship, moral character, and friendship among the high academic achievers in college athletics. The honor society recognizes and honors the individual athlete, his/her team, sport, athletic department, and college or university.
