Former Sea Gull student-athletes and trainers set to graduate this weekend
SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University Winter Commencement this Saturday, December 20, will celebrate hundreds of students receiving their respective degrees. In the graduating class there are over a dozen Sea Gull student-athletes and several athletic trainers who will receive their degrees at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center at 2 p.m.
Four-time All-American softball pitcher Lacey Lister leads the list of former confirmed student-athletes, who have coached or played for the Sea Gulls in the past two seasons. Lister will receive her Masters of Education during the ceremony. The Eastern Shore native was just recently named the new softball and volleyball head coach at Washington (Md.) College.
The national championship men's lacrosse program leads the way with six players set to graduate, including honorable mention All-American Bruce Richardson. In all, eight different athletic programs are represented in the winter graduating class.
Salisbury University's athletic training program graduates three undergraduates and one graduate athletic trainer. Alicia Canzanese, a former track and field athlete and athletic trainer, graduates with Summa Cum Laude honors.
In addition, SU Sports Information student-assistant Alex Peterson graduates Summa Cum Laude and with Thomas E. Bellevance General Honors.
Among undergraduates, 290 students receive the Bachelor of Science, 184 the Bachelor of Arts, 120 the Bachelor of Fine Arts and seven the Bachelor of Social Work. Graduate degrees include Master of Education-23; Master of Science-12; Master of Business Administration-eight; Master of Social Work-six; and Master of Arts-six.
