SU's Athletics Department has organized this event to thank and congratulate all student-athletes, athletic trainers and coaches on their respective achievements during the 2008-09 school year. The department is asking all current SU student-athletes, athletic trainers and coaches to report to Sea Gull Stadium at 11 a.m. for a group photo on the field around the SU logo. Everyone attending should wear a maroon or gold SU shirt.
SU faculty and staff members are encouraged to stop by during the event to congratulate the student-athletes, athletic trainers and coaches on their success during their respective athletic seasons.
National Student-Athlete Day has been celebrated annually April 6 since 1987 as it is America's day to celebrate outstanding student-athletes who have achieved excellence in academics and athletics while having made significant contributions to the community. It is also a time to recognize those parents, teachers, coaches and school systems which make it possible for young people to find the balance between academics and athletics.
