24th Annual Salisbury University Golf Classic set for May 9

SALISBURY, Md. - The 24th annual Salisbury University Golf Classic is set to return to River Marsh Golf Club at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, Md., on Friday, May 9. This year's event features a full field of teams, silent and live auctions and great fellowship as funds raised benefit SU students through scholarships and programs.

"We are excited to be back at River Marsh Golf Club. It was such a great success last year as we received over $30,000 to go towards academic scholarships and other campus programs," said SU Director of Leadership Giving and Stewardship Amy Waters. "That momentum has carried over to this year as we prepare for May 9. This event would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors, teams and the leadership of our committee."

The day will begin with registration and lunch at the Eagle's Nest sponsored by Holder Construction. After lunch and opening remarks, the Golf Classic gets underway with a shotgun start. In the evening the teams will enjoy a dinner reception catered by Black Diamond Catering followed by silent and live auctions and awards. Teams and players will be presented with gifts and prizes for best net and gross score, longest drive and closest to the pin.

"It is very rewarding to me being a part of this golf classic. I am an SU alum so this is near and dear to me and my family," said Lewis Young, Class of 1975, and co-chair of this year's tournament. "I want to help SU continue to grow and if this is how I can do that then that's great."

There is a silent auction throughout the day as participants can bid on items such as golf outings, major league baseball game tickets and gift certificates to name a few. In the evening a live auction takes place as attractive items like a diamond necklace donated by GB Heron, two Dell desktop computers with printers, a Delmarva Shorebirds Skybox rental and an Em-Ings BBQ for 50 people are up for bidding.

"Our participants are in-store for a great day of golf to help benefit Salisbury University," said Waters. "Special thanks go out to Adam's the Place for "Ribs" and Holder Construction for their continued help and support for this year's SU Golf Classic."
